The easiest way to tell if your car needs a wheel alignment is to pay attention to how it drives and the condition of your tyres. Here are some of the most common signs:

Your car is pulling to one side. This is often the most noticeable sign. If you find yourself constantly having to adjust the steering wheel to keep the car going straight on a flat, level road, your alignment is likely off.

The steering wheel is off-centre. When you’re driving straight, the logo on your steering wheel should be perfectly centred. If it’s tilted to the left or right, it’s a clear indication that the alignment is incorrect.

Uneven or rapid tyre wear. Inspect your tyres. If the tread is significantly more worn on the inside or outside edge of one or more tyres, it means they’re not sitting squarely on the road, which is a classic symptom of poor alignment.

The steering wheel is vibrating or shaking. While this can sometimes be a sign of unbalanced tyres, it’s also a common symptom of misaligned wheels.

Tyres are squealing. If your tyres are making a squealing sound, especially when you turn a corner, it could be due to the friction created by a misaligned wheel.

If you notice signs of misalignment: Pay attention to how your car drives. Signs that your wheels may be out of alignment include your car pulling to one side, your steering wheel being off-centre when you’re driving straight, or uneven or rapid tyre wear.

After suspension or steering component work: Any major work on these systems can affect your wheel angles and require an alignment to correct them.

Your driving habits and road conditions: If you frequently drive on rough roads, unpaved surfaces, or in areas with many potholes, you may need to get an alignment more often.
